Beaufort County Community College strives to provide financial assistance to all students who demonstrate financial need and ensure qualified students are not denied the opportunity to an education due to the lack of financial resources.

 The student financial aid program is designed to assist students with educational expenses supplementing family resources to pursue educational goals. BCCC offers federal and state grants, scholarships, and student employment. Eligible students may receive one or more of these types of financial aid to assist with tuition, fees, books, and other education-related expenses. All students who have completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are considered for all types of financial aid without regard to the student’s race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, or disability. In all financial aid awards, students have the right to accept or decline any aid offered.

General Financial Aid Eligibility

Financial Aid eligibility is based on taxable income, untaxed income
and benefits, assets, family size, and the number of family members
attending post-secondary institutions, as well as other factors. Other
eligibility requirements include your academic performance record,
enrollment status, state residency, and student loan borrowing history.

To receive federal and state financial assistance, a student must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen
  • Have a valid Social Security Number
  • Have a valid high school diploma or high school equivalency on file with the College
  • Demonstrate financial need via the completion of the FAFSA
  • Enroll in an eligible program of study at BCCC
  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Not be in default on a federal student loan and does not owe money to any federal student aid program

Childcare Assistance is available! Give yourself a chance to study.

BCCC provides academic advising services to new and returning students. Once the admission process is complete and all official transcripts are submitted, new students will schedule an advising appointment for registration assistance. Students are encouraged to work with academic advisors throughout their educational experience at BCCC.

To be eligible for initial entry for childcare assistance, applicants must:

  • Not receive childcare funding assistance from any other source (ex. Department of Social Services).
  • Be a North Carolina resident (funds cannot pay for childcare provided outside of North Carolina).
  • Have at least one child under the age of twelve.
  • Demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA.
  • Be enrolled in a degree or eligible diploma program Be registered at least half time (six or more credit hours) each semester.
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA or be enrolled as a first semester student at BCCC.
  • Apply for assistance through the local Department of Social Services and either deemed ineligible for services or currently on the waiting list.

Applications must be complete and returned with the following:

  • Copy of the birth certificate for each child.
  • Copy of the social security card for each child.
  • Copy of student’s BCCC registration statement Copy of denial letter from Department of Social Services.
  • An official letter from the childcare provider verifying the child’s enrollment or start date and the weekly rate for each child.
  • Copy of the childcare provider’s license.

About FASFA

The first step to receiving aid is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students wishing to be considered for state aid, as well as, federal and campus-based programs such as the Federal Pell Grant, Federal SEOG and Federal Work-Study, must have their FAFSA submitted to the federal processor no later than July 1.
