All online courses are delivered through a learning platform called Blackboard. Every instructor uses Blackboard in some capacity, so it will be important to learn how to navigate courses and use available tools efficiently. Because we want you to be successful, we want to make sure you choose the type of course that best fits your learning style and situation. At BCCC, you can choose from fully seated, hybrid, blended, or fully online courses. Although online courses provide the flexibility that fits with many of today’s busy lifestyles, it is not ideal for everyone. There are important aspects to consider before making your decision. Certain technical requirements as well as personal characteristics and skills are necessary for online learning success.
Technical Requirements
Computer access (a limited number of laptops are available for checkout in BCCC Library)
Internet access (BCCC Library provides internet access during hours of operation)
Compatible browser – Blackboard is compatible with Chrome, Firefox, Edge, and Safari. Browsers should be current. Run the browser checker to see whether Blackboard Learn supports your browser.
Appropriate software – As a BCCC student, you have FREE access to Office 365 which includes Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
