Study Abroad

 

The Study Abroad Program at Beaufort County Community College offers students the opportunity to travel abroad while studying toward their degree. The Program offers one short-term study abroad tour annually in the summer. Students travel with the BCCC faculty who teach and guide them into a new adventure and an understanding of differing cultures.

Basic Program Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years old before tour departure
  • Enroll in a class associated with the program
  • Have a 2.5 GPA or higher
  • At least 12 hours of completed credit at BCCC prior to travel
  • Read Study Abroad Manual
  • Complete a program application

How We Travel

BCCC’s Study Abroad Program uses well-known and recommended educational travel companies to assist with tour facilitation, including Explorica, EF College Study Tours, and the Study Abroad Association. Currently, the Program’s tours are being facilitated through the Study Abroad Association. Through these tour companies, student travelers are provided the following:

  • Payment plans
  • All-inclusive travel insurance
  • Safety inspections of facilities
  • In-country program coordinator and local guides
  • Accommodations (with breakfast)
  • Flights and travel in-country
  • Educational excursions and site visits

Furthermore, BCCC’s Program provides or facilitates for student travelers:

  • Fundraising opportunities
  • Pre-departure preparation
  • On-tour leaders and faculty
  • Courses and coursework
  • Additional excursions and site visits
  • Support pre-tour and on-tour
  • Transportation to the airport
