The Associate Degree Nursing curriculum provides knowledge, skills, and strategies to integrate safety and quality into nursing care, to practice in a dynamic environment, and to meet individual needs which impact health, quality of life, and achievement of potential.

Course work includes and builds upon the domains of healthcare, nursing practice, and the holistic individual. Content emphasizes the nurse as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing safe, individualized care while employing evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and informatics. Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Employment opportunities are vast within the global health care system and may include positions within acute, chronic, extended, industrial, and community health care facilities.

BCCC’s associate degree nursing program is offered in a traditional face-to-face, daytime format so that students can get the individual attention they need for success. The successful student will complete the entire ADN program over 5 semesters.

* Completed within the past 5 years. Students who have taken BIO 168/169 as part of an Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, or Associate of Applied Science, or a Bachelor’s degree will have the 5 year timeline waived for the application. Please note, an Associate of General Education will not count towards the 5 year waiver.

Thank you for your interest in ENC RIBN. Students admitted to ENC RIBN must meet admission requirements set forth collaboratively by the Community College and East Carolina University (ECU). Admission to ENC RIBN/aRIBN is highly competitive.

RIBN/aRIBN

• Eastern North Carolina Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses
• Completion of RIBN/aRIBN will earn students an Associates Degree in Nursing through the community college, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing through East Carolina University.

aRIBN

• Designed for current college students who have completed the majority of the ADN general education courses with a “C” or better.
• Highly competitive.
• Application for aRIBN is completed at the same time as applying for BCCC’s ADN program.
• Student must be accepted into BCCC’s ADN nursing program to be considered for acceptance into the aRIBN program.
• If accepted, must complete 1 class per semester at ECU, while in the ADN program.
• Can work as a RN after completion of the ADN program and successfully passing the NCLEX.
• The final year is completed online through ECU to earn a BSN.
